Cloverfield was awesome, loved it. It has a different approach to what happens and how it happens and what we know about it, than the "usual" movie. See it and you'll know why.

Limitless
About a nobody trying to become a writer when his GF dumps him and he runs into an old acquaintance who offers him a small pill that lets him access not the normal 20% of the brain but 100% of it. The drug radically changes his life but as with all drugs there's a high and a low.

Hm, the movie was OK I guess. Predictable yes but not to the point where it got boring or you'd rather watch paint dry. Good enough if there's nothing on the TV.
Bradley Cooper did an excellent job of portraying the main character going from one end of the human spectre to the other without losing the viewer somewhere in between but the rest of the cast was "so-so". The movie was brilliantly shot with the colors showcasing the effect of the drug ingested.
On a scale from 1-10 I'd rate it a solid 7

Tucker and Dale vs. Evil
Two hillbillies on a fishing vacation. They pass some college kids on the road on the way up to the cabin and things progress from there.
This is a "college kids meets murderer" and a "parody" all in one but with an awesome twist.

Honestly I'm no fan of those kind of movies... Scream, Final Destination... movies like that but this one was awesome cause it had it all and was fun to boot. Not only the way everyone died in it, that was just so parody like, but the discussions they have are also funny.
Maybe this is a small spoiler but the dialogue they have when the college kids thinks the hillbillies are murderers and the hillbillies are convinced that the college kids must have made some crazy suicide pact... rofl.
Even if you don't like horror or parody, this is something you should watch. There are refernces to quite a few movies. Small references though but they're there.

Revolver

After spending seven years in solitary confinement and having his sister-in-law murdered, confidence trickster Jake Green (Jason Statham) is out to get revenge on Dorothy Macha (Ray Liotta).

Jake Green is a hotshot con artist who has acquired a specific strategy (referred to as "the Formula"), that is supposed to lead its user to win every game, during his seven-year stint imprisoned in solitary confinement. While the reasons for his sentence are unspecified, it's implied that he was incarcerated due to the efforts of Dorothy Macha, a corrupt casino owner. The Formula itself was discovered by two unnamed men in adjacent cells either side of Jake's own. During the first five years of his seven-year sentence, the three men communicated their thoughts on confidence tricks and chess moves via messages hidden inside provisional books, such as 'The Mathematics of Quantum Mechanics'. They plan to leave their cells simultaneously, but end up leaving Jake behind, who ends up serving the remaining two years. He finds that all of his possessions and money have been taken by the two men with whom he had shared everything but, having the two men's Formula, he goes about making a lot of money at various casinos. Two years later, Jake has garnered a reputation that leads many casinos to fear his freakishly good 'luck'. The Formula is seen to apply to any game, and is often exemplified by his apparent mastery of chess. The story revolves around Jake's epiphanic awakening, as he learns how to apply the Formula to the 'game' of life.

The lost room ( 6 series is one movie)

In the series, the Objects were created when the Event wiped Room 10 of the Sunshine Motel from history. Room 10 was displaced in space and time, as were the Objects, and each object was given supernatural powers.
So long as the Objects are outside the Room, each is indestructible and possesses a supernatural power of some sort. These powers, though unique to each item, are not necessarily useful; for example, the Comb stops time for ten seconds, whereas the Wristwatch can hard-boil an egg placed within the band. Most Objects tend to be activated as one would regularly use them, such as the requirement that the Comb be run through the owner's hair in order to trigger its effect. Objects can also be combined to create different effects. The Wristwatch, for example, can be used in tandem with the Knife (whose abilities are undiscovered) to give the user a form of telepathy. There are higher-order combinations of three or more Objects that yield still newer powers, such as a group of six objects that cause the door to Room 9 of the Sunshine Motel to create a portal to the incident that occured in Room 10 when opened with the Key.
When the Objects are within the Room, they return to their original state as harmless items and can be destroyed in that state. Any Object destroyed while in the Room, according to the Occupant, is replaced by another similar object, in accordance with the law of conservation of matter, which he calls Conservation of Objects.
The Objects are categorized into somewhat haphazard classifications. Objects which demonstrate no known effect (e.g. the Toothbrush, Bible, Cigarettes) are classified as dormant, while Objects whose potential can be lethal (e.g. the Pen and the Glass Eye) are treated as weapons.
Several characters in the series also believe that, within the set, there is an Object central to the others (besides the Motel Key, which is considered the most powerful) referred to as the "Prime Object." The descriptions of it vary, but it is commonly said to have power over the others. Throughout the miniseries, several Objects are suspected of being the Prime Object, but according to the Occupant, there is no real Prime Object. The Occupant, the one sentient Object, is able to sense and repel the other Objects, as well as retrieve items lost during a "reset" of the Room, but does not hold the kind of power that the Prime Object is purported to have.

I haven't seen any of the movies you wrote there, Rept, but I saw "The Lost Room" mini-series.

Imo it had a nice and interesting idea for plot, and as a whole the series was okay, but I think it had potential for more and the end was a bit of a let down. ^^

Hmm.. now, the only movie that pops out of my memory (1Kb) would be one french movie about a teacher, a musical teacher that came in some internat school and teached some boys to sing as a chorus. The movie is one of the best I've seen, so if you're interes.. I found it! "The chorus" is the name Wink (original: Les choristes)

Yeah I saw it as well. Also more than once actually.
It's a very interesting and ideals-confrontation driven movie. Basically it's an 1 hour and half in which a group of people talk and share ideas after confronted with a question/possibility. The movie has little if any action but the way its written and the way the characters share their point of view is so well done that I personally found is very enjoyable.

If you liked "The man from Earth", make sure to check out "The Sunset Limited"

I've watched both The man from Earth (several times also) and The Sunset Limited and I prefer the former despite not having Tommy Lee Jones/Samuel L. Jackson (cast isn't everything), however I enjoyed the latter as well.

The Sunset Limited deals with existentialism (whether or not God exists, purpose and meaning of life and death etc) but its approach is a simplistic one which is what confers its charm. The movie presents a topic that can be hard to "digest" without making the viewer feel estranged and that deserves a lot of credit. Having two distinguished actors engage into such arguments will make it all the more interesting!

The man from Earth, however, is more creative, it's a sci-fi yet with none of the special effects (and trust me it's got all it needs neatly packed in one fascinating conversation between university professors). The plot is inspired from an old Transylvanian legend. The main character presents his guests with an astonishing idea as means of a good conversation, in return his fellow colleagues start bombarding him with questions, trying to find the flaws in his "theory", yet the protagonist has a plausible answer to every question. By the end of the movie you might be raising questions regarding mainstream beliefs Wink.

Thought I should give this thread a bump, and share some more movies with ya.

Oh, by the way Crap, I saw "Limitless" on the big screen. The movie was okay but I think that with the plot elements they had and with Bradley Cooper's great performance they had enough to go with to make this one something memorable.

Killer Elite:
Main plot is about a hit-man (Jason Statham) who wants to change his life style but before he can do so he has one last job to do, and depending on his efficiency/result, he will be able to save his friend, partener in crime and mentor (Robert De Niro). The mission he has to face is hard enough on its own but joining the action as the "justice" part, while not necessarily being the best "good guy" model is "Clive Owen".

I keep watching movies with Jason Statham and I don't know why. Most of the movies I saw with him let me down and this one is no different.
The plot is interesting enough to keep you watching. The action scenes are good but where I think the movie lacks most is in acting. Jason is giving his usual "man-of-few-words" acting which A) I think has become so overused in movies, and B) doesn't really suit him; and the rest of the crew, although Clive Owen and Robert De Niro do set themselves apart it's not really that noticeable.

Anywho, if you're looking for a good action flick with a good cast and reasonable story, then go for it. Not worth your money on the big screen though.

Speaking of Jason Statham, it just so happened that yesterday night I saw the only movie where I actually liked him and where he proved he can act.
The movie is from 2005 and it's called "London", and together with another typically blockbuster actor, Chris Evans, Jason pulls a hell of a performance, giving some of the most funny and neat dialogues I've seen so far.
The movie at it's core is about a man who is trying to overcome his frustration and pain from breaking up with his girlfriend (Jessica Biel).

If you like a flick with good, albeit sometimes vulgar dialogue, great acting and that just deals with some day-to-day life problems between couples then I do recommend seeing "London".

Well, the fact that is based on a true story doesn't make everything true and most important - doesn't make the movie more exciting (Imo, of course)

The fact that they're Spec Ops or not may not be clear enough through the movie, or maybe I just overlooked it, hence I called him a Hit-man xD
Through you're right about one thing, calling Clive Owen's character "justice part" is a bit far-fetched indeed.
