yeah, halos were such a horrible idea to implement into this game, a legal way of cheating.. it explains why people see me first and get atleast a 1 shot handicap in fights since I dont use them. I guess at some point Ill be forced to try to make one that gives me as big edge as possible too..

My halo is still within the same image size as the default one, all I did was extend the diagonals to the very corner, but if it's considered cheating, I'll go back to the default one.

Well no, I'm not saying you're doing anything wrong, since the halos are there in everybody's clients and I guess anyone can code it to do that. I'm just saying it's wrong that they're there at all, because of the obvious advantage there is against non-halo users (and honestly what's the point of them in the first place?)

Why are halos a cheat if everyone can use it?
I think they add some style to the game since we're not "forced" to play all blue vs all red anymore and we can actually see eachother's babo skins. Gives the game some more color and style.
It can also help ppl in case they are color blind since you can choose only 1 team to use halos and thus you can distinguish your mates from your enemies on the field.

Its not cheating now that its in the game. But it is never a good idea to add something purely for aestethics that have an important impact on gameplay, by the developers, so that I mean was a mistake.
It's also a fairly hidden option, it took me a pretty long while after they were implemented to understand they existed and that that was why it felt like people saw me first all the time.
Obviously I didnt pay close attention to the forums, but imagine how many pub players play without knowing about these things?

Anyway, it would definately be a losing battle to try to get people to stop using them, since nobodys going to take them out of the client anyway.

You should all just be ashamed of yourselves in the future everytime you lose a full hp 1on1 against me considering your ~2 shot handicap if youre using halos

They're not really hidden, they're in the options Tab in between everything else xD

Also, I don't think it matters that much on pubs, it might make a difference in cms since that is usually a higher level of gameplay. Anywho, if you think they give ppl a huge advantage then you should try them as well.

It's lousy to insinuate ppl are cheating because they're using a feature of the game and I think instead of ppl not using them, everyone should use them since they're enhacing the game. But of course, as someone here said, it's a matter of perspective xD

I never really said much about it because like Grend said, it would be a losing battle. But I agree with the fact that it's not exactly fair (to cms at least). How many people do you know in babo who have color blindness Dev? I tried using halos once but being used to 1-2 colors all these years I thought it just affected my reaction trying to distinguish skin patterns. Same thing happened when I tried using normal map textures again after years of simple (green/grey) textures, but that's just me. I agree that some people may have picked this option merely for aesthetics but don't tell me that others didn't just pick it in order to be able to get that edge once they realized how it worked. I've made my peace with this halo business a long time a go so except for Dev who I know makes really nice models (halos and cross-hairs alike) and maybe some ex Vs, I don't know who is or isn't using halos and I try not to think about it either.

it is the similarly with new client, where you can see flame colors.
Flame colors + halos give you advantage against players who dont use these 2 things. But this is a choice that every player can choose. i choose to play without flame color and halos!

I remember a chat I once had with Pirate back in the days when halos just appeared. He always teased me saying he can see me one fraction of a second before I see him since he is using a halo with larger diameter. I never cared. Still don't, since I believe that the advantage is marginal... To be honest the only reason I use halos is because it gives me the posibility to see each babo's skin, which, for me, is a real perk since I have all graphics disabled to improve fps. Without them babo would be too bleek. Kisses.

You know, this makes me think about the crosshair. I guess you can make it larger than normal ones. Think about it. When using sniper you could have a crosshair with radius of 5-6 blocks. Hahaha

I don't get the point.

--> Reduces the strategies possible since maps' size were made for the bebo, not for the halo. So harder to sneak makes it less fun for me, I got fewer chances to keel on 1v1 if I don't sneak in your back



I never used halos cause they looked like those squares on my computer which fails for some reason at printing them normally on the screen.
