Map Team

so lets try not to fail at this again... XD

ppl who are interested in helping about this express here your wishes (please be clear if you are willing to help, spams (an, mnk, snake, nega :-P) should be avoided, ty)

map team will do following:

- decide witch maps are good enough to be uploaded on real servers
- decide witch maps go to rotation list on public servers

also map team should look through all existing maps on reals and make inventory of what maps are up there (some sort of list that we can keep here on forum, map names + screens + download links).

ppl with map making skills are encouraged to join.

I'm in, but I have absolutely no insight to the maps that are on the real-servers. So I guess we require some admin help.

BTW, is the Map Storage from Skully still being used? Or maybe make a new space where we can even comment on maps and give suggestions or something? Or we leave it at this forum?

I like the idea of having someone decide what maps go on server, and I have no problem in helping uploading whatever maps the team decides should be on server if needed.

seems there will be a lot of work to do for map team so good luck with it.

I think you can list all maps on a server with console command "maplistall", but I doubt all those maps can be downloaded, except if someone has them on computer. I'll look at the list and post it here so other people can provide dl links.

EDIT: Ok I found this impossible to do as the list of all maps is bigger than the console capacity -.-'..... so an admin will have to do it (enable "show log from remote console" and "dump console log to text file" in remote admin, then join a server and use "maplistall", I tested it on >?< server and it works, check the log file in remote admin folder).

EDIT2: Oh, I just realized, you don't need to join a server, just send "maplistall" from remote admin. I think it doesn't work if you send it from the server.

isn't it mostly needed for the new maps that will be added?

isn't really a point in making links for all the standard maps

@cinc: just enable babo log, it will be saved from babo same as in remote.

Ofc you can but it may be annoying to vote map, wait, type the savemap command for whole bunch of maps that are on servers (but it has to be done so )

could write wilk and ask to zip the folder and send it. isn't so much work for him to do it

have the maps from skullys server, not sure how many are the same though besides the standard maps

sorting all maps from real isnt priority, that is smth that can be done casually.

main thing is to define witch maps will be for each server on rotation since that is big current fail of euro servers. so current map team members feel free to take initiative about this. :-) (meaning, maybe make thread with your suggestion for start then ppl can comment it, so we come up in the end with smth of value).

Can I join the map team? I don't have much mapping experience but I have a lot of free time and will to help with all the work you'll need.

I think I could help some with this idea, cause I was searching a bit for some good maps to play but I gave up
But Id like to help finding the new good ones to change this old set. If I can be helpful, i would like to join to this specialized team

ok so map team has started to work.

first thing we are on is map rotations on public servers. expect soon our first version of map rotation lists for every public server and be prepare for criticism and suggestions - be active or dont whine about maps :-P.

Im in, and kindof sorry i neglected and forgot my own idea, my babo crashed every single time i opened it for 2 weeks or so (still does sometimes) so i wouldnt even be able to look at a map...

happened to me toom in my case it was a corrupted map (yes, for some reason corrupted maps crash the game when its loading :/).

You could try to backup all your maps and empty your mapfolder and see if it improved
