shared banlist?
Wouldn't it be best if all european public servers had the same banlist, i was just thinking about times when i've banned people on pordesign servers but then ofc they have probably just joined either ketamines servers or jmainguys ones and ruined more games. since admin lists aren't the same i think this would be best idea no?
Re: shared banlist?
Well depends what the person does. IMO a ban on one server doesn't mean you have to ban on all, that's what global ban is for. If it's just for stupid stuff you hope they learn their lesson and don't do it on another server. Like if you on DM flame spawns you wouldn't do that on CTF, so being banned there also for that wouldn't be fair.
Re: shared banlist?
On top of that, most servers aren't run from the same directory (I know mine arent) which is a prerequisite to share the banlist. Otherwise you'd have to recode babo to look for banlists in specific places.
Re: shared banlist?
i think your giving people more the benefit of the doubt lol imo they will first retry the server then once they cannot join they will join another one and do the same, if they learned their lesson why not learn it after the first warning and kick then after repeating warning once they rejoin server but continue offence and get banned lol i hope ur right but.
Re: shared banlist?
but in essence what you want, is to global ban everybody. I understand that way it is easier for admins, but come on now..
Re: shared banlist?
Nah, just ban them from the hosters servers. If the pordesign servers are on IP 158.554.25.154, players banned on a server with that IP would be banned on all servers with that IP so, it's not really a global ban as such. Still don't think it's a good idea. Preciously the BVE servers (back when they were called "Beginners and No Beginners" had that feature. Wasn't really helpful to me as admin. Got it changed but still remember the pain it was to use.Anette wrote:but in essence what you want, is to global ban everybody. I understand that way it is easier for admins, but come on now..
Re: shared banlist?
Shared banlist will be pain in the axs for admins. Ofc, it's possible to create some shared area (on the forum, f.e.). Admins should then write every banned ip there and describe why, another admins should add bans and remove 'em after some period, etc... (btw, I ban forever, never unbanned someone after a time, ha)
Or, it may be some replication system for banlist files, but it'll give even more problems.
I have ideas for easy ban control for multiple servers, but to make it work, master server should be down
Anyway, if there are person who should be banned widely for completely wrong actions, admins will find way to spread his IP.

Re: shared banlist?
but if u make shared banlist for pordesig+urs+ketamines+kingjs, a euro babo player would have to play on american servers or african, which means u rly have no place to play because u flamed spawns on a dm. I just don't think that is fair.h8me wrote:Nah, just ban them from the hosters servers.
