Schoolyard Competition
I would love to have a schoolyard competition preferably 4v4, i'm not too sure how to go about setting it up though since most tournaments scheduled die, i don't know why maybe because of the playing time scheduled or w/e.
long story short is there any other people who would be willing to particpate and help organize this?
ideally i would love 8 teams to be involved meaning there are 32 players participating but i know thats alot to ask for so maybe a 3v3 tournament would be more suitable to begin with and possibly a 4v4 in the near future.
rules i think should be normal schoolyard play - each team has a captain 1 game decides the winner and maybe for the final there could be 3 rounds played like a normal cm to determine the winner.
anyone willing to participate?

Re: Schoolyard Competition
I don't really get the principle of a schoolyard tourney. In schooly teams change everytime so how would you like to design such a tourney? Like an interclan tourney with non clan teams?

Re: Schoolyard Competition
no each team would be made up of 4 random people if we have 8 teams then we play 3 knockout rounds until we have 2 teams left and they are the finalists.
it would be hard to organize lol maybe we could have an oldschool 8v8 schooly one off

Ok so it is a random competition?

Re: Schoolyard Competition
Who makes the *random* teams? :O A mixed team competition sounds fun though, but you'd have to find a good way to make the teams.
Re: Schoolyard Competition
What could be funny would be to vote for like 5 or 6 captains and then alternativly randomly give them the right to choose one guy in their team, and then make a tourney.
Would be funny, but would need everybody to be able to play it lol.

Re: Schoolyard Competition
Maybe a certain number of players (32) should play schooly and with random teams every match. The one who was in the winning team in the most of the maches gets to be the champion.

Re: Schoolyard Competition
wow, that is pretty nice idea cinc!
but i would make less ppl 4 teams with 5-6 ppl and only 4on4 games (it is easier to organize matches when you have 6 ppl and only 4 have to be able to come to the game).
also, not random but balanced, that is the first characteristic of schooly -> balanced games.
so +1 for the idea, -1 for me helping in organization... ^^

Thank you, Gero
I gave this idea some thought and I did some calculations. If there would be 16 players, the whole competition could be completed in 2 and a half hours.
First part would be six 4 vs 4 schoolys (= 6x15 minutes = 1,5 hour, it doesn't need to be completed in one day.) Each player would participate in 3 matches.. The best 8 by result get into round 2, where they play another four 4 vs 4 matches(1 hour). The winner is then decided (if there's a tie? 1 on 1 match?) and he gets the title of "schooly champion".

Re: Schoolyard Competition
there is a problem guys
if it becomes a "individual" tourney, in the schooly each player will think first about him, so it's more like a DM trying to make the most frag

Re: Schoolyard Competition
yeah, if its about the individual players score, then forget about it being a fun ctf schooly game. will just be one selfish messed ctf game
Re: Schoolyard Competition
The players of the winning team should earn some points for the victory, but not because of their individual scores (kills/frags and returns/caps).
Individual league, where all players play together and against each other in randomized couples of games.
The only thing that really counts for their ranking is the CTF victory or defeat, but including their personal stats (frags, etc. of all CM's added together) in a table may be great !

yeah, you missed it. :-) only thing that is counted is, like frosty said, if your team wins or loses. imo absolutely no other number (kills, deaths, dmg, caps, rets) should be taken into account.

Re: Schoolyard Competition
EU babo cant even finish simple, easy tornements, nevermind a complicated one like this lol. Imo this would never work, especially trying to get this many people together in the first place because before the schooly people would probably just arrange and cm or a ladder match

Re: Schoolyard Competition
Yeah Nath, it would probably never work (this one)...
But it's not so complicated.
In fact, if the matches weren't set in advance, but played with the available players, it would probably work : it's one of the biggest problem that has made every other tourny fail.
It would be very easy in fact :
Each time a schooly is played, take a screen and post it here.
An admin will take care of a table with all the participants' name and add some points to the winners.
No need to register, and all schooly (4v4 or more) would be reported !
Not a big organisation... and still a kind of league.
