Yes! Another project from Dev that is bound to fail!

Not quite, my friends. Actually I'm just here representing the international team that has joined forces to create a game, very similar to the one we all love and (sometimes still) play -> Babo.
I say international, because this time around this is not just an EU community effort. NA and SA community are big strong and willing to join forces so that we can all accomplish this.

It comes as no surprise to say that Babo is sadly dying. It has been coming for some time now, and it's not going to get better. But for all of you that loved babo, whether because of the community or the gameplay, here is a chance to do something about it!

Our goal
: to create a game, inspired from Babo, that will play similarly but make it bigger, better and bloodier!
Of course, this will be no easy task, and we are well aware of it, which is why I'm here.

If there are any programmers/designers and/or people that have experience with creating games, then we could surely use your help!

Well, the state of the community is worse than I thought xD

We have effectively closed the recruitment for the team. However if, for some reason, someone else wakes up and wants to join, PM me and we will see what can be done.

I wish I could get EA Games into this but they would probably ruin the game. AnyhoOters, I dont know of any developer would be willing to work without presenting him the creative idea behind your project Dev. You should try and contact these great producers/publishers like: Playdead or Klei Entertainment even Paradox.

So imo, you should gather up all the resources of this community (what they want in the new game,how should it look/feel, low end/ high end compatibility if possible etc.), get them on a piece of paper and begin the hunt for a publisher/producer willing to invest in that idea.
Another thing would be to create the source code and publish as an open source...I dunno, i tend get confused in so many possibilities. Try this and THIS or Indie Fund even Greenlight.

Its going to be hard and frustrating maybe sleepless nights but if you all want this it will be worth it.

One more thing, Babo is not dying, its community is small. Babo needs to be more PUBLIC. Make posters and stick them in you own city to promote this free game. Who knows, maybe this could get the attention of the right people.

I would like to get involved if you can find any use for me guys. I don't know how to code and I've lost touch with designing but the creative ideas might still be there.

@myth: hey, thx for the tips man. I'm not sure at the moment which way this will go. Certainly making it popular will be a paramount point.

And cmon, I'm an optimist, but even I know babo is dying. Even with a small community it had a lot more activity years ago, when more than 1 server was populated. Granted, the fact that it's not very well known has hindered it's continuity but also the lack of updates and such ^^

@ mnk: well, we haven't come together to a decision for that yet. I'm thinking of making it a F2P model with microtransactions, so that it is commercial but still accessible to everyone regardless, but this idea is still something that's being disputed.

what technologies are you going to use? programming language, development tools, etc.

in what aspect(s) you are going to make it different?

when i was in your mood dev, situation was different, community was bigger and one should have thought about migrating community and thus making "new" babo as much the same as "old" babo. now i think that making it different is good idea tho i came to conclusion that three things make babo great game that it is:

1. simple to learn, hard to master
2. fast time to start playing
3. adrenalin and blood

Unity3d engine, C# for programming. My suggestion is to keep it the same as current babo in the first stages and then add more features but we're still weighing opinions on it.

I would advice to try adding some more competitive potential. Rivalry is what keeps many people in multiplayer battle games, after having fun of course...

What Cinc said + we're thinking of adding more competitive options, some un-lockables. We're also discussing other features, but as Cinc mentioned, the 1st priority is to make a game that has that Babo "feel" to it and then improve upon it

Woah, that is great news, Daivuk! Maybe third time around it actually gets developed hehe.

I really do believe that Babo has a lot of potential for making it big with the right changes. I read your DevLog and I'm pretty excited. Also, congrats on being a father hehe.

That's more than wonderful! Even if you give it a different name, this will still be legacy of BV2. "I can't wait" but honestly for new babo I would wait for a veeery long time and it will always be worth the time.

Obviously, the father thing is great as well!
